This PDF brochure (linked) announces the Hoover Mentoring Workshop, to be held Friday, November 9th. The workshop honors the memory of longtime ISU civil engineering faculty member, James M. Hoover, who retired from ISU in 1991. The workshop has been developed to provide students, faculty and engineers the opportunity to learn more about mentoring, interact, and provide resources to foster mentoring. You are invited to partake in the workshop and learn how mentoring can enhance your professional career.
A number of well know speakers are on the program and should prove both educational and stimulating. The 2nd Annual Workshop features Dr. Carl Monismith of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of California-Berkley. Dr. Monismith has seen pavement design evolve from granular surfaces through the AASHD Road Test to the present Mechanistic Emphirical Design methods. He has devoted his career to mentoring other engineers in improved pavement design.
