SAVE THE DATE! Please mark your calendar for Thursday, September 11, and Friday, September 12. These are the dates for the 2008 Iowa Section ASCE Annual Conference, which will be held at the Gateway Center in Ames. This year’s meeting will start on Thursday with the 2008 Iowa ASCE Annual Conference. On Friday, a personal development seminar on project communication skills will be held, followed by a golf outing.(Click here for Golf Registration Form )
The annual conference on Thursday will feature a wide range of topics, including: · Engineering Ethics – New Orleans Case Study · I-35 Bridge Collapse · Flooding Infrastructure Issues in Iowa · Economic Development and Infrastructure Demand Planning · Sedimentation and Watershed Management Challenges in Red Rock Reservoir. · Treatment Technologies for Unsewered Communities · Iowa’s New Interstate Rest Areas · Civil Engineering Body of Knowledge and 30-hr plus BS Degree Requirement for PE Licensing. Note that the conference typically alternates locations from the Ames area to the Iowa City area. This year the conference was to be held in the Iowa City area and we had originally planned the conference in that location. Unfortunately, with the flooding devastation in and around the area, we were informed that the location we had reserved may not be able to meet our accommodation requests. In an attempt to make reservations at a later date, we were forced to move the conference location back to the Ames area. We recognize this is an inconvenience to some of our members and apologize for that. Despite the havoc Mother Nature has presented over the past few months, we are all looking forward to a very informative and enjoyable annual conference. We hope you will join us for this excellent program that gives a chance to visit with old friends and make new ones. We hope to see you there! |
